Happy Thanksgiving: City Connects in Southbridge, Mass.

One of the things we’re grateful for this Thanksgiving are schools that have just started implementing City Connects this school year.

This includes all six public schools in Southbridge, Mass., which cover pre-K through 12th grade and a therapeutic day program.

We’re also grateful for the six coordinators in these schools who geared up for Thanksgiving!

Three community partners – House of Destiny Church, Lifesong Church, and Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church – provided Thanksgiving holiday baskets.

“The baskets have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, dessert – all the fixings,” Jennifer Bouckaert says. She’s Southbridge’s City Connects Program Manager.

“The churches worked with our coordinators to identify families in need who would benefit from having baskets. And our coordinators helped deliver the baskets or arranged for parents to pick them up at school.”

And after Thanksgiving, this work will continue.

Southbridge’s coordinators will be in holiday mode for the rest of the season, helping to organize toy drives, food drives, and clothing drives to benefit students and their families.

At City Connects, we are proud to get the right services to the right child at the right time and throughout the winter so that students start the new year with the resources and warm wishes that will help them thrive.

We also want to wish all our students, families, and staff a very Happy Thanksgiving.
